How we handle your information

Who we are and what this covers

This policy is issued by California Film Solutions of 2025 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107. In this policy, we, us and our mean California Film Solutions.

It covers information we collect through this website, by email, and in the course of installing and warranting paint protection film. It does not cover the practices of any dealership that sells you a vehicle we have worked on. Those businesses handle your information under their own policies, and you should read theirs as well as ours.

What we collect

If you contact us or request dealer pricing

• Your name and the business you work for
• Your role
• Your email address and telephone number, where you give them
• The marques you carry and the approximate number of vehicles per month, where you give them
• Anything else you choose to put in a message to us

If we work on a vehicle

• The vehicle identification number, make and model
• Photographs of the vehicle taken at intake and on completion, as described in Section 05
• The owner or dealership name and contact details
• The delivery date reported to us, so that your warranty starts on the correct date
• A record of installations, inspections, warranty certificates and claims

Automatically, when you visit this website

• Your IP address, browser type and version, device type, and operating system
• The pages you view, the time of your visit, and the site you arrived from
• Information stored in cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 08

We do not take payments through this website. We do not ask for social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, precise geolocation, biometric information, or any of the categories California law treats as sensitive personal information.

Where it comes from

• From you, when you contact us, book work, or make a warranty claim.
• From a dealership, which may give us your name, contact details and delivery date so that we can register your warranty coverage and reach you about it. If you would rather we did not hold those details, tell us and we will explain what we can remove.
• From your vehicle and our own work, including the vehicle identification number and the photographs and condition notes our installers record.
• Automatically from your browser, when you visit this website.

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiry and to quote work
• To carry out an installation and keep a record of what we did, which the warranty depends on
• To register, administer, transfer and honor warranty coverage
• To contact you about your annual inspection or about a defect we become aware of
• To keep the records the law requires us to keep
• To operate, secure and improve this website

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Photographs of your vehicle

We photograph every vehicle at intake and on completion. The intake photographs are a record of the condition of the paint before we start, and both sets support any warranty claim later. That is their primary purpose and we keep them for as long as we keep the installation record.

We may also publish photographs of completed work on this website and on social media. Where we do:

• We do not publish your name or any personal detail alongside the image.
• We obscure or exclude license plates.
• We do not publish intake photographs showing pre-existing damage.
• Tell us at any time that you would rather we did not, and we will not. If something is already published, email us and we will remove it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past twelve months.

We disclose information only in these situations, and only what is needed:

• Our service providers. Website hosting, email, and the font service described in Section 09. They may process information only on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
• The film manufacturer. Where a warranty claim has to be made upstream, we pass the vehicle identification number, installation date, photographs, and a description of the defect.
• The selling or servicing dealership. Where it is necessary to establish your delivery date or to arrange work on a vehicle they sold.
• Professional advisers and insurers, where we need advice or have a claim.
• Where the law requires it, including in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or lawful request by a public authority.
• A buyer of our business, if we are ever sold or merged, subject to this policy continuing to apply.

Business contacts

Most of the people who contact us do so from a dealership, using a work email address. Under California law, information about an identifiable person is personal information even when it is collected in a business context. We treat it the same way as any other personal information described in this policy, and the rights in Section 12 apply to it.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website uses cookies that are necessary for it to function and to stay secure, and cookies that help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not use advertising, retargeting or social media tracking pixels, and we do not use session replay.

• Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working and protect against abuse. The site cannot function properly without them.
• Analytics cookies tell us which pages are read and how people move through the site, in aggregate. They are not used to identify you personally or to follow you elsewhere.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.

Third parties on this website

California law requires us to tell you whether other parties may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use ours.

Web fonts. This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests those font files from Google, which means Google receives your IP address and basic request information. We do not control what Google does with it, and Google publishes its own privacy policy.

Links out. Our social media icons and any external links take you to sites we do not operate. Nothing is sent to those companies until you click. Once you leave, their policies apply, not ours.

Other than the font service described above, we do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activities across other websites through this site.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal, and some send a Global Privacy Control signal. There is no common industry standard for how a website should respond to a Do Not Track signal.

This website does not track you across other websites for advertising, whether or not you send such a signal. Because we do not carry out that kind of tracking, and because we do not sell or share personal information, these signals do not change how we handle your information.

How long we keep it, where, and how we protect it

• Enquiries that do not become work. Two years from your last contact with us.
• Installation and warranty records, including photographs. For the life of the coverage plus four years, because coverage runs for ten years, transfers with the vehicle, and we may need the record to honor a claim.
• Website logs. Twelve months.

We hold this information on systems located in the United States. We keep it on access-controlled systems, limit access to people who need it to do their job, and use encrypted connections for this website and our email. No system is perfectly secure and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by California Civil Code section 1798.82.

Your choices and your rights

You may ask us at any time to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, and who we have given it to
• Give you a copy of it
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete it, subject to the limit below
• Stop publishing photographs of your vehicle
• Stop sending you marketing

How to ask, and what happens

• Email us at the address in Section 17 with Privacy in the subject line.
• We verify who you are before we act. Usually that means replying from the email address we already hold for you, or giving us the vehicle identification number together with your warranty certificate number or purchase paperwork.
• We respond within 45 days. If we need longer we will tell you within those 45 days, explain why, and take no more than a further 45 days.
• You may use an authorized agent. We will ask for written permission signed by you, and we may still verify your identity directly.
• We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.
• If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing. If you disagree, reply and a different person will review it.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code section 1798.83 lets California residents ask a business whether it has disclosed their personal information to third parties for those third parties’ own direct marketing purposes.

We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and provide the disclosure the statute requires on request.

Email and text messages

We email you about work in progress, warranty registration, annual inspections and claims. These are service messages about your vehicle rather than marketing, so they do not carry an unsubscribe link. If you would rather we reached you another way, or not at all, tell us and we will note it, though we may then be unable to remind you about your annual inspection.

Any marketing email we send carries an unsubscribe link and our postal address. Unsubscribe and we stop, promptly and permanently.

We do not send marketing text messages. If you give us a mobile number and ask us to text you, we will use it only for service messages about your vehicle, and you can stop them by replying STOP or telling us.

Children

This website and our services are directed to businesses and to adult vehicle owners. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version and effective date at the top of this page always show the current one, and the policy is posted here permanently.

If we make a material change, such as collecting a new category of information or sharing it with a new kind of recipient, we will note the change at the top of this page for at least thirty days and, where we hold your email address and the change affects you, tell you by email before it takes effect.

Contact us, and how to complain

For anything in this policy, including a request under Section 12 or Section 13, email us or write to either studio. Put Privacy in the subject line so it reaches the right person quickly.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy question, you may complain to the Office of the Attorney General of California, which enforces California’s online privacy laws.
